Sunset Honey Gourami

The Sunset Honey Gourami (Trichogaster chuna) is a beautiful, peaceful freshwater fish known for its warm golden-yellow to orange colouration and gentle personality. Their bright sunset tones really stand out against green plants, making them a fantastic addition to planted and community aquariums.

Honey Gouramis are one of the smaller and more peaceful gourami species, making them a great option for aquarists wanting a colourful centrepiece fish without the aggression sometimes associated with larger gouramis.

They do best in a well-planted aquarium with plenty of cover, gentle water movement, and areas of open swimming space. Suitable tankmates include peaceful tetras, rasboras, Corydoras, smaller rainbowfish, and other similarly sized community species.

Like other gouramis, the Sunset Honey Gourami is a labyrinth fish, meaning it has a specialised organ that allows it to breathe atmospheric air directly from the surface.

Feeding

Sunset Honey Gouramis are omnivorous and generally easy to feed. Offer a varied diet of quality flakes or small pellets supplemented with frozen or live foods such as brine shrimp, daphnia, and bloodworms.
