Red Honey Gourami (Trichogaster chuna)
The Red Honey Gourami is a stunning, tank-bred freshwater fish that is loved for both its vibrant colours and its calm personality. Unlike some of its more aggressive relatives, this gourami is gentle, making it a fantastic choice for community aquariums. Originally from the slow-moving waters of India and Bangladesh, the Red Honey Gourami has adapted well to aquarium life, and being pond-bred domestically makes them hardy and well suited for home tanks.

Tank Setup
These gouramis feel most at home in a planted aquarium with gentle water flow and plenty of hiding spots. Floating plants such as Frogbit or Water Sprite provide shade and comfort. Driftwood, smooth rocks, and hardy plants like Anubias and Java Fern also make excellent additions to their tank.
Feeding
As omnivores, Red Honey Gouramis are not picky eaters. They readily accept flakes, pellets, frozen or live foods such as brine shrimp, as well as blanched vegetables. A varied diet will keep them healthy and bring out their best colours.
Tank Mates
Perfect for community aquariums, they get along well with peaceful species such as tetras, rasboras, corydoras, and smaller loaches. Avoid aggressive fish or fin-nippers. They can be kept singly or in groups, although males may display mild territorial behaviour during breeding.
