Platies are compatible with most other peaceful aquarium species, making them an excellent choice for community aquariums.
These fish are not picky eaters and will readily accept a variety of high-quality dry foods. For the best health and colour, their diet should also be supplemented with frozen foods such as bloodworms or brine shrimp.
Platies generally occupy the middle and upper regions of the aquarium. They are known to jump, particularly when first acclimating to a new tank, so a secure lid is highly recommended.
While live plants are not essential, Platies certainly appreciate a planted aquarium. Stem plants and mosses are excellent choices and help create a more natural environment. Their peaceful nature and hardy temperament make them an ideal fish for both beginner and experienced aquarists.
