Platinum Rummynose Tetra
Platinum Rummynose Tetra
The Platinum Rummy Nose Tetra (Hemigrammus bleheri var. "Platinum"), also known as the Firehead Tetra, is a popular schooling fish for community tanks. Its bright red-orange nose and striking black and white striped tail make it stand out, and its shimmering silver body adds to its beauty. This variety of Rummy Nose Tetra is especially notable for its eye-catching, platinum-like scales.
Platinum Rummy Nose Tetras usually swim in the top and middle parts of the aquarium, though they can also be found feeding near the bottom. They are peaceful and get along well with other small, calm fish. While adult dwarf shrimp are generally safe, smaller shrimp and their fry may become a meal. Larger, peaceful invertebrates are also suitable tankmates. These fish need to be kept in groups of six or more for their well-being. Although they adapt well to a variety of conditions, their natural habitat features soft, acidic water with plenty of tannins and leaf litter.
While they aren’t fussy eaters, Platinum Rummy Nose Tetras will maintain their vibrant colors and health with a varied diet of meaty foods. High-quality flake food, pellets, and frozen or freeze-dried meaty foods are ideal for them.
