Also known by names like Long-Nosed Elephant Fish, Ubangi Mormyrid, Elephant Fish, and Peters’ Elephant Nose Fish (after its discoverer), this fish inhabits various African rivers, with the largest populations found in the Niger, Chari, and Ogun Rivers.
These rivers typically have murky water with low visibility, due to the sediment and debris in the water and the gentle currents.
