OB Peacock Cichlid Care

The OB Peacock Cichlid is a striking hybrid known for its vibrant, irregular pattern of orange, blue and black markings. Each fish has a unique colour pattern, making it an impressive addition to a Lake Malawi cichlid aquarium.

Care level: Easy to intermediate. A hardy and adaptable fish when kept in stable water conditions.

Adult size: Approximately 12–15 cm.

Temperament: Semi-aggressive. Males can become territorial, particularly when breeding. Adequate space, suitable stocking and plenty of hiding places will help manage aggression.

Tank requirements: We recommend an aquarium of at least 250–300 litres, depending on the number and type of tank mates. Provide open swimming space alongside rockwork, caves and defined territories.

• Temperature: 24–28°C
• pH: 7.8–8.6
• Water hardness: Moderately hard to hard

Diet: Feed a varied diet of high-quality cichlid pellets or flakes, supplemented occasionally with frozen foods such as brine shrimp. Avoid excessive amounts of rich or high-protein foods.

OB Peacock Cichlids are best kept with similarly sized Lake Malawi cichlids with compatible temperaments. Their active behaviour, bold personality and individual colour patterns make them an excellent choice for a colourful African cichlid display.
