Neon Dwarf Gourami

Overview

The Neon Blue Dwarf Gourami is a variation of the Dwarf Gourami, known for its peaceful and shy nature. When kept in pairs, these fish often swim together. The males display a striking iridescent sheen, with bright turquoise blue bodies and orange-red stripes. As Labyrinth Fish, they can breathe air directly, occasionally coming to the water's surface for a gulp of fresh air.

These fish thrive best in a tank of at least 50 litres, ideally with dense planting and some floating plants. A dark substrate enhances their colours, and peat filtration is recommended. Regular water changes are crucial due to their susceptibility to disease. They should not be housed with large, aggressive fish but do well with other small, peaceful fish and fellow gourami's. Since loud noises can frighten them, it's best to place the tank in a quiet area.

Neon Blue Dwarf Gouramis are omnivores, enjoying both algae-based and meaty foods. A diet of algae-based flake food, along with freeze-dried bloodworms, tubifex, and brine shrimp, ensures they receive proper nutrition.
