Care:
Myer's Hillstream Loaches are native to fast-flowing streams with rocky substrates. To keep them healthy, it’s important to replicate these conditions in the aquarium. They require excellent water flow and aeration, plenty of rocky hiding spots, and smooth pebbles or boulders for grazing. Bright lighting is recommended to promote algae growth, which they naturally graze on. Though plants aren’t necessary, they can help maintain water quality. Suitable options for high-flow environments include Anubias and Microsorum, which can grow on rocks or driftwood.
Feeding:
Provide a varied diet including high-quality flake food, sinking pellets, algae wafers, thawed frozen bloodworms, Mysis shrimp, and blanched vegetables like spinach and kale. Natural algae growth in the tank is also beneficial.
Water Parameters:
- pH: 7.0-8.0
- Water Hardness: Medium, up to 12 dH
- Temperature: 68-75°F (20-23.8°C)
Breeding:
Breeding in captivity is likely possible, though it’s not commonly documented.
