Long Nose Farlowella Twig Catfish

Long Nose Farlowella Twig Catfish

Elegant • Peaceful • Natural Algae Grazer

Bring home one of the most distinctive catfish in the aquarium hobby! The Long Nose Farlowella Twig Catfish is a peaceful, slender-bodied fish admired for its remarkable camouflage and gentle nature.

Its elongated, twig-like appearance blends beautifully with driftwood, plants and natural aquascapes. Often found resting on wood, stems and leaves, this fascinating fish adds subtle character to a planted aquarium.

Care & Behaviour

• Temperament: Peaceful; can be kept individually or in small groups

• Diet: Algae and biofilm, supplemented with sinking algae wafers and blanched vegetables

• Tank Size: 80 litres or larger

• Ideal Setup: A mature, well-established aquarium with driftwood, plants, grazing surfaces and gentle water flow

• Temperature: 22–26°C

• pH: 6.5–7.5

Farlowella thrive in stable aquariums with plenty of natural surfaces to graze on. Suitable companions include tetras, rasboras, peaceful gouramis and Corydoras.

Regular supplementary feeding is essential—do not rely on aquarium algae alone to meet their nutritional needs. Ensure food reaches them, particularly when housed with more active feeders.
