Assorted Angelfish (Pterophyllum scalare)

The Angelfish (Pterophyllum scalare) is one of the most iconic and popular freshwater aquarium fish. Renowned for its graceful fins, elegant swimming style, and impressive range of colours and patterns, it makes a stunning centrepiece in any peaceful community aquarium.

Originally native to the slow-moving rivers and floodplains of northern South America, the Angelfish available in the aquarium hobby today have been selectively bred over many generations. This has produced a wide variety of beautiful colour morphs, and we are pleased to offer an assortment of these stunning varieties.

Angelfish thrive in well-planted aquariums with driftwood, open swimming space, and gentle water movement. Their tall body shape means they require an aquarium with good height. While generally peaceful, they can become territorial during breeding, particularly when spawning pairs are established.

They are best kept with other peaceful fish of a similar size. Very small fish, dwarf shrimp, and delicate invertebrates may be seen as food, while larger shrimp and snails can often be kept successfully in spacious aquariums.

Feeding

Angelfish are omnivores and readily accept a wide variety of foods. A high-quality diet consisting of flakes, pellets, frozen foods, and live foods such as bloodworms and brine shrimp will promote excellent growth, vibrant colouration, and overall health.

We are currently offering juvenile Angelfish in a selection of beautiful colour varieties.
