Glass Bloodfin Tetra (Prionobrama filigera)
Please note: The photo shown is a sample image. Actual fish may vary slightly in appearance.

The Glass Bloodfin Tetra is a peaceful and active schooling fish known for its mostly transparent body and striking red fins and tail. It's a fantastic addition to a planted or community aquarium, bringing both movement and colour to the tank.

Native to the Amazon River Basin, this species is hardy and highly adaptable, making it well suited for a range of freshwater setups. They typically swim near the top and middle of the tank, though they’re often seen exploring throughout all levels of the water column.

These tetras should always be kept in groups of at least 6–8 to ensure they feel secure and display their best behaviour. They pair well with other peaceful fish and can also be housed with dwarf and Geophagus cichlids. Adult dwarf shrimp may be safe, but smaller shrimp and fry could be at risk of being eaten. Larger, peaceful invertebrates can also be considered as tankmates.

Feeding is easy — they readily accept a wide range of foods. A varied diet of high-quality dry, frozen, and live meaty options will help keep them healthy and vibrant.
