German Gold Ram – Mikrogeophagus ramirezi “Gold”

This beautiful dwarf cichlid is a stunning gold/yellow variant of the ever-popular German Blue Ram.

The German Gold Ram features a vibrant golden body accented with neon blue speckling and subtle red highlights. Males typically display the most intense colouration—especially during spawning—but unlike many dwarf cichlids, females are also highly colourful.

These fish thrive in aquariums with a sandy substrate and plenty of cover such as driftwood, rocks, and caves. They are an excellent choice for planted tanks, but also appreciate open swimming space. Generally peaceful, they can be kept with other calm species, although they may become territorial when breeding.

Due to their nature, they are not suitable for tanks with small shrimp or delicate invertebrates. However, larger shrimp and snails may coexist in bigger setups.

Feeding is straightforward—these fish readily accept high-quality dry, frozen, and live foods. A varied diet is key to maintaining their health and vibrant colours.

We are currently offering sub-adult specimens that already show excellent colouration, which will intensify further as they mature.
