The Electric Yellow Cichlid is one of the most popular African cichlids, prized for its vibrant yellow colouring and relatively peaceful temperament. Native to Lake Malawi, this species is an excellent choice for both beginners and experienced aquarists looking to add bold colour and activity to their aquarium.

At Top Fin Aquatics, we supply healthy, tank-raised Electric Yellow Cichlids that adapt well to captive conditions and thrive in stable, well-maintained aquariums. They do especially well in Malawi cichlid community setups and prefer tanks with plenty of rockwork, caves, and hiding spaces.

Electric Yellows are hardy, active fish and can grow to approximately 10–12 cm in length. Keeping them in groups is recommended, as this helps reduce aggression and encourages natural social behaviour.

A varied diet of high-quality pellets or flakes, supplemented with occasional frozen foods, will keep them healthy and displaying their best colour.
