Guppies are one of the world's most popular freshwater fish, loved for their vibrant colours, active personalities, and ease of care. They typically inhabit the upper levels of the aquarium but will happily swim and feed throughout the entire tank.
Guppies are known to jump, so they should always be kept in an aquarium with a secure lid or canopy. If a lid isn't available, ensure the water level is kept well below the top of the tank.
These peaceful community fish are safe to keep with other non-aggressive species. Avoid housing them with fin-nipping fish, as their flowing tails can become targets. Adult dwarf shrimp are generally safe tank mates, although newborn shrimp may be eaten. Larger peaceful invertebrates also make excellent companions.
For the best behaviour and display, guppies should be kept in small groups.
Feeding
Assorted Guppies are omnivores and thrive on a varied, high-quality diet. Feed a combination of premium flakes or micro pellets, supplemented with frozen or freeze-dried foods such as bloodworms and tubifex to promote excellent colour, growth, and overall health.
