Assorted Guppies
Guppies are lively, colourful fish that primarily occupy the upper levels of the aquarium, though they will happily explore mid and lower levels when feeding. They are known jumpers, so a secure lid or canopy is essential (or keep the water level slightly lowered).
They are plant-safe and ideal for peaceful community aquariums. Guppies should not be housed with fin-nipping species, as their flowing tails can be tempting targets. Adult dwarf shrimp are generally safe tankmates, although shrimp fry may be eaten. Larger, peaceful invertebrates also make suitable companions. For best results, keep guppies in small groups.
Feeding
Guppies are not fussy eaters and will thrive on a varied diet. To maintain vibrant colour and strong health, offer a mix of:
-
High-quality flake food
-
Micro pellets
-
Frozen or freeze-dried foods such as bloodworms and tubifex
