Platies are compatible with most other peaceful aquarium species, making them an excellent choice for community aquariums. They are omnivorous and will readily accept a variety of high-quality dry foods, which should be supplemented with frozen foods such as bloodworms for optimal health and coloration.
Platies generally occupy the middle and upper regions of the aquarium and are active, engaging fish to watch. They are capable of jumping, especially while acclimating to a new environment, so a secure lid is highly recommended.
While plants are not essential, they are certainly appreciated and help create a more natural environment. Stem plants and mosses pair particularly well with Platies. Hardy, colourful, and easy to care for, Platies are an excellent fish for both beginners and experienced aquarists.
