Badam Pods – Natural Aquarium Botanical

Create a beautifully natural feature in your aquarium with Badam Pods (Sterculia foetida), also commonly known as Jungle Pods or Elephant Ear Pods. Their broad, curved shape adds striking texture to botanical and blackwater aquascapes while creating natural cover for aquarium inhabitants.

Badam Pods may gradually release tannins, helping produce a warm, amber-toned blackwater appearance. Their textured surface also provides an excellent area for beneficial biofilm to develop, giving shrimp and other small creatures somewhere to graze.

Preparation and Use

Rinse and scrub the pod thoroughly. Boil it for approximately 20–30 minutes, then allow it to cool completely before adding it to your aquarium. The pod may float initially but should sink once fully waterlogged.

Add botanicals gradually and monitor your water parameters, especially in aquariums with low carbonate hardness. Check regularly for sharp edges or excessive deterioration and replace when required.
