Male Crowntail Betta

The Male Crowntail Betta is a stunning freshwater tropical fish known for its striking finnage, vibrant colours, and unique appearance. Each fish can vary considerably in colour and pattern, making every Crowntail Betta unique.

Native to Southeast Asia, the Crowntail variety is relatively modern and was first developed by breeder Ahmad Yusuf in Indonesia around 25 years ago. Its distinctive fins feature extended rays that create the dramatic, crown-like appearance that gives this variety its name.

Crowntail Bettas can make fantastic centrepiece fish. Depending on the individual fish's temperament, they may be kept with other peaceful tropical species, provided suitable tankmates and adequate space are available.

Bettas are labyrinth fish, meaning they have a specialised organ that allows them to breathe atmospheric air from the water's surface. They should always have easy access to the surface of the aquarium.

Important

Male Bettas are highly territorial towards other male Bettas and should not be housed together in the same aquarium.
