Albino Threadfin Acara Cichlid (Acarichthys heckelii)

The Albino Threadfin Acara is renowned for its striking coloration, making it a standout addition to any aquarium. This variety is highly sought after by cichlid enthusiasts for its vivid hues and generally peaceful disposition.

Overview:

The Albino Threadfin Acara Cichlid, native to the Amazon, is a favorite among cichlid lovers. As it matures, this fish exhibits high amounts of iridescent blue-green and bright yellow markings, along with red, orange, and violet highlights, particularly in males. This species can often be kept in groups or community tank setups with many other species.

Habitat:

The Albino Threadfin Acara thrives in an aquarium with a sandy substrate and plenty of hiding spots such as clay pots, driftwood, and rock formations. While it typically does not eat ornamental plants, it does enjoy digging, so plants that attach to driftwood and rocks are recommended. This cichlid is compatible with other peaceful fish that are too large to be considered prey. However, it can become territorial during spawning. Dwarf shrimp and other small, delicate invertebrates should be avoided, but larger, more durable invertebrates like snails can be suitable tankmates in a spacious aquarium. For breeding, it is best to minimize or avoid other species in the tank.

Feeding:

The Albino Threadfin Acara Cichlid is an unfussy eater. It readily accepts high-quality dry, frozen, and live meaty foods, as well as supplemental vegetable matter. Ensuring a varied diet will help maintain its optimal health and vibrant coloration.
