Albino Cobalt Zebra Cichlid (Metriaclima callainos var. albino)
The Albino Cobalt Zebra Cichlid is a striking variant of the ever-popular Lake Malawi mbuna cichlids. With its bold white body, shimmering pink hues, and vibrant red eyes, this fish makes a truly eye-catching addition to any African cichlid aquarium.
Native to the rocky shores of Lake Malawi, these cichlids are active, hardy, and full of personality. They thrive in aquariums with plenty of rockwork, caves, and hiding spots to mimic their natural habitat. Like most mbuna, they can be territorial, so we recommend housing them with other Malawi cichlids of similar size and temperament.
Care Notes:
-
Size: Typically reaches 12–15cm in captivity
-
Temperament: Semi-aggressive, best kept with other mbuna cichlids
-
Diet: Omnivorous – thrives on a balanced diet of high-quality cichlid pellets, spirulina, and occasional vegetable matter
-
Water Parameters: 24–27°C | pH 7.8–8.6 | Hardness: Medium–Hard
-
Tank Setup: Provide rocky structures, caves, and open swimming areas
The Albino Cobalt Zebra Cichlid is a fantastic choice for hobbyists who want a hardy, vibrant, and active fish that brings a splash of uniqueness to their Malawi setup.
